Taxpayers urged to stay in close contact with FTO office
LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, on Sunday stressed the urgent need for close and uninterrupted liaison between the business community and taxpayers with the FTO office across the country for immediate relief of their real grievances as an absolute priority.
He said this during a conversation with a delegation from the business sector led by Meher Kashif Younis, former senior vice president of Lahore, who called on him on Sunday to brief him on the tax issues facing the business community. . He said no injustice would be tolerated at any cost against taxpayers by tax collectors across the country.
He said he always attached great importance to the business community, especially all taxpayers, and was fully committed by law to addressing genuine grievances arising from any maladministration on the part of any government official. the Federal Office of Revenue or tax services or customs.
He said that all advisors/consultants in FTO regional offices across the country have already been instructed to expedite the legal processing of pending complaints on the merits within the stipulated time frame of maximum 60 days. He said that the private sector has always played an important role in the economic development of the country and that the state has an obligation to provide a business-friendly environment by fully guaranteeing the ease of doing business.
Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah said taxpayers play a major role in national development by paying their taxes in a timely manner. On the other hand, he said, the FBR is a supreme tax body in Pakistan which collects taxes and revenue from taxpayers in strict accordance with the law. He urged the business community to file only legitimate and genuine complaints backed by documentary evidence to seek justice or redress grievances.
He said special sensitization seminars were held in all regional offices and major cities to educate the business community on the role and function of FTO, while honorary business coordinators had also been appointed in chambers. of commerce and industries for better effective coordination with FTO for prompt action. .
Meher Kashif Younis invited FTO to conduct an awareness seminar in City for taxpayers, especially members of the business community, and offered to sponsor the event which he agreed to be held in the last week of the month.
